What should i do with my 3DS XL, there are only a few games which are good and so this little device always is in standby for me,.. so i decided to hack a custom firmware onto it,. just for no reason.. |
I decided to solder a port into the 3ds for better NAND Backup / writing. Well it is not the best idea because if one doesn’t remember that this port must only be used to backup / write the nand and connect a usb power supply to it this would lead into a completle fucked up nand making the 3DS not usable anymore.
Beside this fact i gave zero fucks and soldered the port onto the 3DS and found a nice place in it.
Next i built the adapter between the newly created NAND interface port and a SD Card Reader,.. this is a SD Adapter with an usb cable soldered to it,.. looks really weird ! And this thing only works with a bunch of card readers,.. one of them is the ANKER mini usb 3.0 card reader from amazon (tried several others, none of them were working)
After following some tutorials i was able to write the NAND and inject Godmode9 and Homebrew Launcher.
I am considering open the 3DS again and solder the Micro USB Connector to the 3DS Power connector, not to accidentially brick my device by connecting a power supply to the NAND.
11/2020: Update: i soldered the Micro USB to the power supply jack so that i can charge or power my 3DS with the micro usb port and for the mentioned reasons above. I preserved the cables for the nand but i thing i will never have to use it again.
