Compaq Presario CDS 524 Software Recovery Project

The Compaq Presario CDS 524.. my first PC, 486 DX2 66 the ultimate DOS/Windows 3.11 Machine. Unfortunately i lost all the original installation disks over time. So i started this project to get them all back, especially Tabworks which i have only seen on this machine.

The CDS524.. oh my god .. how i loved this pc.. It was sold with a bunch of tools for windows and with Kings Quest VII and Encarta 95. Ok… Encarta was not number one on my list,. but Kings Quest was a lot of fun to play… until i discovered DOS GAMES !!

With only knowledge about Consoles and Commodore 64 it didn’t take me too much time to completely fuck up my Compaq while trying to install things,.. so i had to install all from scratch, but where to get the pre-installed software. In the Mid 90 i took the old school wired telephone,. called a compaq hotline in germany and ordered all the install disks for this machine (yes, there was no internet do download them). Hundreds of years later i recovered my old machine and tried to get all the tools and programs back for the CDS524. The hardest thing to get was Tabworks made by xerox….

You can find all the disks i have found in the internet and in my disk collection. Most of them are abandonware.. so i guess it is safe to provide them to you as downloads.
